Though Aunt Bonfi was still raising some of her own grandchildren, she did not hesitate to take Viviana and her sister in. Determined to give her nieces the education she was denied, she reached out to Liga MAC for support. Viviana was quickly welcomed into Liga MAC’s Educational Support Program.

Today: Leadership and Financial Independence

Upon graduating high school four years ago, Viviana chose to enter the workforce instead of going straight to college. She needed to gain clarity on her future, but more urgently, she needed to generate income. She joined the Coppel department store team, where she has consistently excelled across multiple departments.

Today, at 21, Viviana is single, independent, and the primary breadwinner for her household, as her uncle is permanently disabled following a stroke. Driven by hope and ambition, she has just enrolled in a virtual Bachelor’s program in Business Administration through her company and is currently training for a promotion into the optics department. Viviana looks to the future with fierce optimism, determined to earn her degree and advance her professional career.

In Viviana’s Own Words:

"Liga MAC was my safe haven. It was the place where I could completely forget about the hardships of my reality. I loved sitting down to talk with Consuelo; she was like a psychologist to me. I used to go there to do my homework on the Liga MAC computers, and I genuinely loved the workshops. I learned so much. I stopped being so shy and learned how to connect with people. Much of what I learned at Liga MAC serves me every single day at my job—especially understanding the true meaning of empathy."

A Final Note from Elva (Closing Reflection)

Dayli, Viviana’s younger sister, has also just graduated high school under the sponsorship of Liga MAC. Following in Viviana's footsteps, Daily has already entered the workforce, understanding the vital role she plays in supporting her family.

Both young women are resilient survivors of a harsh reality. However, they found a path forward thanks to the extraordinary generosity of their aunt—a woman who, despite profound poverty and limitations, knew exactly how to find the help needed to keep them afloat. Without her courage, these girls would be living a completely different life. Today, against all odds, both sisters stand proud as the foundational pillars of their home.

tension grew over the added expenses I brought to the household—such as the internet or keeping the lights on late at night to study. Since I worked during the day, studying at night was my only option.

The achievement I am most proud of is becoming fully independent during my college years. I managed to study, work, and get by on a very limited income. Of course, graduating and earning my degree in Gastronomy is my ultimate pride. I always wanted to be a chef. Sadly, many of my peers couldn't make it; they had to drop out of school to work full-time. Today, I have my freedom, and that is the most valuable thing I have achieved.

Currently, I work as a cook for the staff dining room at Flora Farms. I was able to buy a used car. My boyfriend and I rent a small house together, and I have started my own small pastry business. I began by selling cupcakes on the street—I never imagined people would actually buy them! My neighbors were my very first customers. I also used to sell them in the Soriana parking lot. Now, I bake birthday and special occasion cakes by order. My long-term goal is to open a bakery together with my boyfriend, who is a baker. In the future, I also hope to start a family.

brought my young daughters along whenever I took Adrián to his classes. That day, Consuelo, Liga MAC’s social services coordinator, gently woke me up to ask if I was okay. I confessed that I was overwhelmed by a major problem: Alondra, my second daughter, was suffering from a chronic stomach illness that wouldn't heal. We had visited the public health system (IMSS) countless times with no success; she was writhing in pain and missing a lot of school. Consuelo looked at me and said: 'Your problem is now our problem. We are going to fix this together.'

They immediately sent us to a private pediatrician who examined my daughter and prescribed a treatment. After several follow-up visits and medications—all paid for by Liga MAC—my girl fully recovered. What has always profoundly moved me about Liga MAC is that they cared for us as if we were their own flesh and blood. That deep sense of community has always touched my heart.

Adrián was always so happy to attend his Liga MAC classes. The most valuable gift Liga MAC gave our family was the realization that we could move forward. We discovered that we could succeed because we were no longer alone. Liga MAC gave Adrián the ability to envision new possibilities, such as applying for the Building Baja’s Future university scholarship, just like the daughters of a Liga MAC volunteer had done. Knowing about that scholarship motivated us; we knew that if we worked hard, that opportunity could be ours too."

Claudia’s Testimony (Sister)

"I always remember how the Liga MAC volunteers would give me little apples and granola bars when I went with my mom to drop Adrián off at his English classes. Adrián would tell me all about his lessons, like math, and how much he loved them. Because of that, I always wanted to be part of Liga MAC too.

Being at Liga MAC feels like going to a 'premium' school. The building is beautiful, and the classes are small. It’s not like regular school, where we are crowded into packed classrooms and teachers can’t give us individual attention. My teacher, Héctor, is wonderful. Everyone says he is very serious, but he taught me how to do division when I didn't know how. I also really loved the self-esteem classes with Consuelo, keeping an emotional journal, and learning breathing exercises to manage my feelings. This year, I absolutely loved art class—I discovered I’m actually good at painting! I used to be very shy and didn't dare talk to anyone, but now I have friends. I love Liga MAC.

Adrián’s Testimony (Alumnus & Architecture Student)

"One of my most emotional memories of Liga MAC was when Consuelo helped my mother with my sister's health issue. That day, when I came out of class, I saw a completely different expression on my mother's face—the heavy look of worry was gone. I remember the prescribed medicines were incredibly expensive, completely out of our budget, and Liga MAC covered everything. I am deeply grateful.

I also have what Consuelo told us in her self-esteem class deeply engraved in my mind: that we are all valuable and special. And from Elva, I learned to always seize every opportunity that comes our way. I truly enjoyed all my classes at Liga MAC.

Currently, I am studying architecture. My dream is to one day build or buy a house for my mother (Note: Adrián’s father is a bricklayer; their current home has only two rooms, and all five family members share one bedroom). I also dream of earning enough money to bring my entire extended family together for a beach day. The money would be used to compensate my relatives for their day of work, so they don't lose income. We never get the chance to gather because everyone always has to work.

But above all, my ultimate dream is to become a just and generous man, to take good care of my family, and to give back to others."
